Temperatures are escalating and jubilant revelers are crowding terraces night after night. Yes, summer has arrived. For the lucky ones who snag invites to forthcoming pool parties and weekends on Lake Balaton, the quest for an eye-catching swimsuit becomes just as much of a priority as frequent stops for gelato. Ladies, here are three local designers with markedly different styles for you to consider:

At Barbara Leber’s 12th district showroom there are organza wedding gowns and peek-a-boo bodysuits to peruse alongside an avant-garde selection of swimwear. From metal accentuated two-pieces in look-at-me yellow to curve-hugging, nightie-like designs in cool green, they have a glamorous look that channels the French Riviera.

Dancer and choreographer Katalin Schäfer is also a designer, dreaming up burlesque and belly dance costumes, as well as bathing suits with an appealing retro flourish under the label Schäfer Fashion. From the polka-dotted Roxy to the bow tie-embellished Marilyn, each one looks as if it was made for a ravishing pin-up of yore.

Béla Széki, who abandoned a fine arts career for textiles, is the designer behind Paloma. Found in Konkurencia stores throughout Budapest—as well as Aquaworld Resort—his collection is heavy on bikini creations. If the tropical-inspired floral patterns are too bold, seek out solids in decidedly more subtle hues of classic white and indigo.
